THE PIED FLYCATCHERS OF BOWLAND.

I`ve been watching a pied flycatchers nest in Bowland and now the young are being fed I set up the tripod and camera at a safe distance to capture images of the adult birds returning with food.I was disappointed that only the female was returning with food,so after capturing a few images I cut the visit short and returned to the car, leaving the female to her busy job of feeding the young.I only hope that she is successful in feeding the young birds and that they manage to fledge.

ISLE OF ARRAN RED SQUIRRELS.

The bird feeders in the garden of the old school house were we stayed had many visitors and two of the visitors were red squirrels.Looking through the windows the squirrels were fine open a door 15 yds away and they were off, truly wild.I set the car up as a hide and was out every morning at 5.30 am hoping to capture images of these shy animals.I`ve posted a few of my better efforts below and particularly like the third image of the squirrel with it`s tail over it`s head acting like an umbrella in the rain.

ISLE OF ARRAN WILDLIFE.

Half term saw seven of us of up to Arran for a weeks holiday.Although mainly a family holiday the camera  was always at the ready and the car stopped on a regular basis to capture images of the wonderful wildlife of Arran.I`ve posted images of Golden Eagle,Red Deer and Grey Seal all of which were sightings that sent a shiver of excitement down my spine.I can`t wait to return to this beautiful Island with all it`s stunning scenery and wildlife and hopefully spend a bit more time with the camera trying to capture more images.

TROUGH OF BOWLAND LANDSCAPES.

Over the last few weeks I`ve been to the Trough 5 or 6 times looking for birds to photograph, but the weather has been against the birds as it has been to cold with very little food about.I decided to try my hand at a few landscapes and though I`am only a novice at this kind of photography and have very limited artistic skill I enjoyed myself and have posted a few of my efforts below.P S don`t be fooled by the sunshine in the images it was bitterly cold.

MERE SANDS WOOD WEED DANCE.

After three visits, sixteen hours in the Cyril Gibbon hide, almost four hours travelling I finally got just less one minute of the grebes weed dance. Was it worth it,you bet.The grebes performed at a decent distance in great light and I`m more than happy with the results. I`ve called the images, the courtship begins, here comes the weed,up we go,the beautiful pose, and back to nest building.

MARSHSIDE ADVOCET IMAGES.

I`ve been meaning to go to Marshside for three or four years to photograph the Advocets but due to one thing and another I`ve never got round to it,but this year I finally made the trip and managed to capture a few images.Only two birds were close enough for the lens and dispite being harassed by the many BHG`s they posed nicely for the camera on a few occasions.I`ve posted a few images of this beautiful wader below from the many images I captured.
