FUN WITH THE TERNS.

I visited Preston Dock to photograph the terns. The weather was overcast and the conditions weren`t exactly brilliant for photography, but the terns never fail to put on a show and you feel obliged to press the shutter on the camera.A couple of the images I`ve posted are large crops to get rid of the busy background.I think the fish is a small dace dropped by an adult and soon attacked by the ants to take back to their larder [fascinating].I will return again soon hopefully in better light.

THE PIED FLYCATCHERS OF BOWLAND.

I`ve been watching a pied flycatchers nest in Bowland and now the young are being fed I set up the tripod and camera at a safe distance to capture images of the adult birds returning with food.I was disappointed that only the female was returning with food,so after capturing a few images I cut the visit short and returned to the car, leaving the female to her busy job of feeding the young.I only hope that she is successful in feeding the young birds and that they manage to fledge.

ISLE OF ARRAN RED SQUIRRELS.

The bird feeders in the garden of the old school house were we stayed had many visitors and two of the visitors were red squirrels.Looking through the windows the squirrels were fine open a door 15 yds away and they were off, truly wild.I set the car up as a hide and was out every morning at 5.30 am hoping to capture images of these shy animals.I`ve posted a few of my better efforts below and particularly like the third image of the squirrel with it`s tail over it`s head acting like an umbrella in the rain.

ISLE OF ARRAN WILDLIFE.

Half term saw seven of us of up to Arran for a weeks holiday.Although mainly a family holiday the camera  was always at the ready and the car stopped on a regular basis to capture images of the wonderful wildlife of Arran.I`ve posted images of Golden Eagle,Red Deer and Grey Seal all of which were sightings that sent a shiver of excitement down my spine.I can`t wait to return to this beautiful Island with all it`s stunning scenery and wildlife and hopefully spend a bit more time with the camera trying to capture more images.
