SANDERLING at ROSSALL POINT.

Brian and I had a wonderful time on wednesday at Rossall Point for the high tide, the waders came close and the weather was fine. A nice selection of waders were on view, Sanderling Turnstone Knot Dunlin, and Ringed Plover. I've posted a few of my better images of the Sanderling for your enjoyment, and hope to do another post soon of the other waders.

Brilliant images of the Sanderling at Rossall Point with BR the other day Martin. The one with two birds is particularly interesting, showing an adult on the right in winter/non breeding plumage.

Keep up the good work and enjoy.

Martin. What a great time we had at Rossall. A great privelege to get close to these wonderful little waders. As always excellent shots and I particularly like the flight shot. Look forward to some more images and another day out sometime.

Hi all,

The Sanderling is a small wader. This bird is similar in size to a Dunlin, but stouter, with a thick bill. It shows a strong white wingbar in flight and runs along the sandy beaches. It eats small crabs and other small invertebrates. Thanks a lot.....
