I can`t get enough of the sanderling at Rossall, such beautiful little waders in their winter plummage. On a very cold sunny winters day I managed to find one running along the tide line giving great views and opportunities to photograph.I`ve posted a few of my favourite images from an enjoyable day out.

SALMON ON THE RIBBLE.
On the higher reaches of the Ribble are the salmon spawning grounds and to reach them the salmon have to overcome various obstacles mainly waterfalls. At one of these locations I tried to capture images of the salmon as they jumped the falls.I thought long and hard about posting these images as the fish aren`t sharp(human error on my part),but I will be back in the future to master the techniques and capture these remarkable fish and do them the justice they deserve.

KESTREL AND PEREGRINE FALCON.
While at Rossall Point photographing the waders a distant peregrine was chasing the wader flocks out over the sea,and a kestrel was hunting the dunes.I`ve posted a couple of images of the predators in hunting mode and will post one of the wader images very soon.

BLAME THE STARLINGS.
Blame the starlings for this post, firstly the starlings have deserted the garden and my project with them has been put on hold, secondly I visited Blackpool to photograph the starlings going to roost on the North Pier the starlings never appeared and the sun disappeared behind the grey cloud so no sunset shots either.I decided to stay and photograph the Blackpool Illuminations, this project was totally alien to me experimenting with a wide angle lens, different F stops and shutter speeds I thoroughly enjoyed myself even if alot of the images were rubbish.I posted a few of my better efforts below.

LEARNING CURVE.
I`ve recently bought a s/h canon flash gun and have been practising with it in the garden trying to capture images of starlings in flight. The starlings are very unpredictable visiting the garden and the weather has been very unpredictable as well.I`ve not had the two together yet but I will keep trying and hopefully everthing will come together (watch this space) I`ve posted my efforts below in very dull grey sky conditions.
