THE STARLINGS ARE BACK.

Back in April I started to feed the adult starlings with the idea that when the young fledged th e parents would bring them back to feed and the action would start.
The first fledged starlings arrived on the 4th May and I spent many hours watching their antics [god knows what the neighbours thought].I waited 24 days for the first blue sky to appear it had been a very long time but eventually the camera came out and the action started.I took lots of images and I`m very pleased with the results.I`ve posted a few of my favourite and better images below.

REDSHANK AT NEWTON MARSH.

Over the last few weeks early mornings down at Newton Marsh have been rewarding for photography.Black-Tailed Godwits,Ruff,Common Sandpipers Little Ringed Plovers Redshank Lapwing Oystercatcher Greenshank Curlew have all been present along with all the duck on the marsh.I`ve concentrated this post on the Redshank and have posted a few of my favourite images of this little wader.

THE SHOVELER SHOW.

I`ve been very restricted with my birding and photography for a few weeks,but hopefully I will have more time soon. The only time I`ve been able to get out is early morning returning for breakfast at 7.30am.
  At Newton Marsh if the conditions are right it can be very rewarding and on two of the early morning visits the weather was kind to me and I managed to capture a few pleasing images of Shovelers.I`ve posted a couple of my favourite images from my sessions at the Marsh.

ALLOTMENT LONG TAILED TITS.

The allotment has been very slow  this winter,I had been hoping for better weather and a few more visiting birds.Lots of time has been spent trying to improve the feeding station and eventually a couple of Long Tailed Tits started to visit the feeding station daily.I managed to capture a few images and have posted a sample of them below.

NOT QUITE EASTER BUNNIES.

I`ve been going back over old files trying to improve my presentation and composition and found these old Hare images,I`m certainly glad I saved them and remember the day very well even though it was a few years ago.

SUNRISE SUNSET.

I`ve been visiting Preston Dock at dawn and dusk to photograph the sunrise and sunsets and after a few visits I have a half a dozen images that I am pleased with and have posted them below.

CHANGING LIGHT.

I visit the starling roost at the north pier Blackpool seven times in Jan and Feb,twice I never got out of the car,twice I took a few images and then binned them when I got home and three times a got a few images.

  The first two images were taken when the temp was 2c but felt like -5c as there was a 40mph north wind blowing,the next images were taken in more normal conditions while the last image was taken after the starlings had gone under the pier to roost seven or eight minutes after sunset the sky just started to glow.AN AMAZING SIGHT.
