Goldfinches are strikingly beautiful....Hi friends,

Goldfinches are strikingly beautiful. They are almost tropical in appearance with long, pointed beaks that make them specialists in extracting seeds. Surprisingly, it is only the males that are able to extract seeds from teasel heads, they cling to the stem and tear into the seed head, accessing the seeds inside by probing with their extra long bill. Thanks a lot......

Wildlife PhotographyRitchiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10193668142475873525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-947858790215141598.post-41079036501630182142011-12-11T12:52:58.113-08:002011-12-11T12:52:58.113-08:00Martin. They can certainly be vicious little things but – in the wider scheme of things – there will, of course, be a reason for it. No doubt, the strongest individuals going on to become parents of feisty, demanding youngsters. Really nice work.
